About Pete

I am West Sussex County Councillor for Cuckfield and Lucastes - my division also includes the villages of Bolnore, Ansty & Staplefield and extends from Paddockhall Rd, Haywards Heath in the east to the A23 in the west. I am the Deputy Cabinet Member for Adult Care Services, and Advisor on Youth Matters. I also sit on the Planning Committee (at County this is mostly about digging stuff out of the ground, or putting stuff in the the ground!).

As Chairman of Cuckfield Rural Parish Council, I am pleased that we have improved services again this year whilst reducing our council tax over the three year cycle.  We have published the Cuckfield Rural Parish Plan which will enable us to improve services further for residents.  We have also launched a weekly bus service from Staplefield via Orchard Way, Warninglid and Ansty to Burgess Hill - for details ring 01444 471919.

A self-taught guitarist, I run my own guitar importing business. I’m the guitarist in Slight Return, the well-known Sussex rock and blues band.  I hope to see you at one of our gigs – we play at many pubs, clubs and private functions in the Mid-Sussex area.

I’m a keen cricketer and am Chairman of Staplefield Cricket Club where I’ve played since 1985.  I’m a great believer in promoting sports for all ages particularly for the young and I want to ensure the protection of rural sports facilities for the use of all members of the community. I'm also a Governor of Warden Park School and St Mark's School, Staplefield, as well as being on the Temporary Governing Body for the new Bolnore Village School.

My wife Jan and I have lived in Mid-Sussex for 25 years,  Jan is a teacher at Twineham Primary School.  Together we have three children aged 22, 20 and 11.
