Sports, Leisure & Recreation

I'm a keen cricketer and have been a member of Staplefield Cricket Club since 1985. I'm also a school Governor and am a great believer in promoting sports and other activities for all ages particularly for the young. I want to ensure the improvement of rural sports facilities for the use of all members of the community.

In Bolnore, I will continue to support the excellent work that has been done by Bolnore Village Residents Association (BVRA) in shaping the development of, and access to, the new Bolnore Village Sports Facility. This sports and leisure area must be developed sympathetically and must add to, not detract from the local residential environment. I will continue to support BVRA in their work towards creating the new Bolnore Community Centre.

In Ansty, I will continue to support and encourage the development of the Ansty Sports & Social Club and Ansty Village Hall, as they seek to develop a new village sports and community facility.

All these groups are great examples of why the Big Society policy is so important for communities. We've had 13 years of New Labour telling us the state will provide and we shouldn't think or act for ourselves. Now's the time to show how much we care about our communities and how we can help ourselves.
