Cuckfield

I am very concerned over the increasing levels of traffic in Cuckfield and will continue to campaign at all levels to preserve the special nature and heritage of Cuckfield village. I have launched the Cuckfield Traffic Forum which offers local people, organisations and businesses the opportunity to express their views on developing plans to manage the traffic and parking difficulties in Cuckfield. I have written to Sussex Police asking them to enforce the 7.5 ton weight limit through the southern part of the village.

Bolnore

I believe that during the continued development of Bolnore Village, the developers must work around the requirements of residents, not the other way round! The developers must consult much more with Bolnore Village Residents Association whilst the further phases are being built.

I will continue to oppose plans to use the main road through Bolnore as an access road for construction traffic and am working with Highways and MSDC to try and find a way to keep the haul road open to provide a permanent alternative access to the sports field and reduce traffic through the village.

Lucastes

The proposals for a Controlled Parking Zone in Haywards Heath have been reverted to a working party consisting of County, District & Town Councillors for further consideration. The County Local Committee will receive a report from this working party before making any decision on how best to proceed.

I oppose the introduction of Controlled Parking Zones other than where local residents have clearly demonstrated their backing for a scheme. Certainly CPZs should not be used as a means of raising money and any future scheme  must be financially neutral.

Potholes

West Sussex County Council is investing £400,000 in Highway Rangers to improve the street scene across the county. We have also found a further £300,000 to tackle potholes. Both these measures were opposed by the Lib Dems, which would mean more pothole misery for all of us. Fortunately your Conservative Councillors approved both these measures and we look forward to seeing the Highways Rangers soon.
